Chirp…chirp…chirp…

Those crickets you’ve been hearing around here are due to the fact that I’ve been busy finishing up my first catalog (just back from the printers). Tonight the wife and I (with our daughter putting on the stamps) will be busy sealing them up and putting on address labels. Should all be in the mail tomorrow. If you’d like a copy, be sure to email me with your mailing address. A PDF version will be posted to the website as well.

I had been planning on having it out next week, just before the Gold Rush Book Fair, where I’m exhibiting. Unfortunately when I checked with the folks at my local PO, they informed me that the catalog would cost almost double to mail once the new rates took effect Monday (mostly because of the fact that the new rates account for the size of the piece being mailed). That’s hundreds of dollars, so I’ve had to rush around to get them out a full week earlier than before.

In other news, Sarah is back to blogging! Good to have her back. In very sad news, my friend Susie, who ran the local neighborhood bookshop back in Norfolk, has had to close here store. Amazingly, she’s blogged about the experience:

it is not the big box store’s fault. it’s the fault of the people who spend the time and money to drive to virginia beach and SHOP at the big box store when they have a community bookstore a few blocks from their house.
